you know those days, where everything just seems to be on your side. they were not often, but cherished when they arrived. and today was one of those days for kalix. he had awoken with the sun shimmering through his window, well rested after a long and comfortable night of sleep. kalix hadn't been sleeping so well lately, which he put down to missing home. though he didn't exactly love the place when he was there, there were comforts he missed from home. he missed his older sisters too. though he had spoke to polly for a couple of hours last night before bed. it wasn't the same as being able to crash their parties and other fun stuff. also the fact he was a freshman was bugging him. he'd already had a vampire feed off him yesterday and it had to be the worst experience of his life... the vampire was a guy, and it was probably the most sexual thing he'd done. kalix had felt dirty and used afterwards, but he supposed he would have to get used to it round here.
not that this place was all that bad. he'd met a few people that were really nice, a couple who weren't. but it was the same whereever you went. at least here he didn't have to hide who he was, which was a very nice change. he felt more comfortable here than he had ever done at school back home, due to the fact everyone here was the same, they were all freaks. not that kalix meant that in a bad way, but none of them were normal were they? kalix couldn't help if this would be like every other high school, full of drama and lies and... sex? cue the shudder. he hoped here he could forget about all that, and just focus on his studies. think of neither girls or boys and he would be fine. not that he wanted to think about girls anyway... and there he went again with gay sinful thoughts.
that was what he had been told they were by his father. he'd needed to tell someone, and he felt his sisters wouldn't understand since they were female. now he wished he had gone to them. he had been told, he was an angel, and therefore it was wrong to be gay. he didn't believe a word of it of course. but it made him feel like he shouldn't go against his fathers beliefs. he had a feeling he would be disowned or something. and he didn't like that thought at all. so he fought every feeling and thought for boys he had. and hoped to god that it worked in the long run. it had to sink in eventually right?
kalix decided he would wonder around the city today, seeing as he had no classes and he wanted something to do. dressed in some black jeans and a bright yellow tee, he made his way out of his dorm and towards the sunlight. he noticed it was a little chilly out, but it didn't deter him from his journey. the sun was out, and that was enough reason for exploration in kalix' eyes.
kalix, after wondering for a couple of hours, came to the cathedral. smiling to himself, he stepped inside and looked around. he felt slightly uncomfortable, but when he realized no one else was here he relaxed a little. his feet padded softly along the stone floor, making his way down the middle of the rows. turning down one and sitting down with a small sigh. this was a nice peaceful place. but he didn't want silence or peace. he wanted... company.

Running her hands along the column, Kjara couldn’t believe at how beautiful this place was. Of course, it was godly and all that shit, but it was beautiful. Her heterochromatic eyes looked up at the high ceiling and a great idea leapt into her mind. Putting down her pocket book, Kjara put her hands by her side and let her body fall to the ground, where she landed on small pointed feet of a small baby dragon. Clucking slightly, she pushed herself off of the ground, spreading her blue-green wings. It wasn’t very high to her now that she was sure she wouldn’t fall and break a bone. Clinging to the top of the ceiling on some pole, Kjara looked down and watched as a guy walked in. He seemed tense at first, and she felt a smile pull at her lips as he walked through a few rows and sat down on one of them. The dragons’ blue and green eye blinked twice as it changed it’s from on the roof. Now she was gecko, slowly crawling over the ceiling to where she was behind him. If a gecko could laugh, it’d be cackling at the moment. Although KJ wasn’t a mean kinda girl (total lie, but she can be nice, so give her credit) she loved to play little jokes on people. Especially on the new kids. She had never seen this boy before, so he had to be new.
Kjara let go of the roof and fell through the air silently. Before she hit the ground, her body changed again and she caught her self as an owl, gently flapping her wings to keep from hitting the ground. Without looking at him, she grabbed onto the wooden pew beside his head and flapped her wings twice, putting her head under her left wind to gently clean a few feathers that were sticking out randomly. She clucked her tongue twice, looking around. Huffing, she hopped onto the spot that was open beside him and shifted back into her girl from, looking in front of her. She crossed her hands in her lap, looking straight ahead with a expression of sheer concentration. She then turned her heterochromatic eyes to him, putting her finger on her lips. “We can’t let them hear us or we’ll get kicked out. They don’t like getting disturbed. Priests and people are crazy when it comes to their god time.” laughing quietly, she turned her attention back to the front of the cathedral, her eyes curious. She then turned back to the guy, a small smile on her face. “Plus, they’d want to perform an exorcism. They don’t like demons in heir presence. They’d think I’m possessed. Orhell, they might try to kill me and send me 'back to hell where I belong'.” with a full throated laugh, Kjara kicked her legs up on the pew in front of her and snuggled down to where her head was down to his stomach.
“So watcha doin?” her heavy and thick Scandinavian accent filled the quiet area around the two of them. She had yet to hear this man’s (or boy, in this case) voice yet, so she figured that she might as well go head and do the introductions.
Smiling yet again, she stuck her hand out at him while looking up from her small cuddled up position. “I’m Kjara von Rael.” ick. She hated her name. I mean, she loved her Ma and all (and may she rest in peace) but she should have named her something totally different. Why not Jay? Or Ariel? But Kjara? I mean, it was even spelled weird. The ‘j’ was pronounced ‘e’. So instead of kuh-jar-uh or kay-jar-uh like some people think when they first read her name, it’s pronounced key-are-uh. Odd, right? Rolling her eyes at her thoughts, she waited for the guy to speak up. “Oh. I didn’t ask." she said out loud. “What’s your name?”

to his embarrassment, kalix was an exceedingly jumpy person when being snuck up up on by people. his sisters often did it on purpose for a joke. it was something the young angel couldn't help, but something he would change if he could. there were many things he would change actually. being a freak would be one. questioning sexuality was up there too. kalix knew all he needed was to find a girl and just tell himself he fancied the pants off her. not that he had ever felt that way about any girl. there again, he could only think of one boy he had thought of in that way. not that he would act on it anyway. kalix wasn't one of those boys that wanted to soridly touch every person who could be ever deemed good looking. he was far too much of a gentlemen, at least thats what he liked to believe.
hearing a sudden flutter of wings, kalix let out a small screech and gasped. his eyes frantically swarming around the space to find the thing near him. looking to his side, he moved back, slightly frightened by the owl that was stood beside his head. were owls not meant to be nocturnal? it was daytime right? he couldn't have been sitting here thinking all day could he? kalix was ever more horrified as the owl hopped down beside him and then... became a girl?! kalix' eyes were the epitome of wideness. his hands going to rub at them to make sure he wasn't seeing things. owl's couldn't turn into people right? kalix had never met a shape-shifter, and the prospect was quite scary. how did he know who the hell he was talking to? as the girl spoke, kalix watched, his eyes flitting around and his fingers fiddling with a stray piece of cotton from his clothing.
"they don't like demons in their presence."
those words made kalix full on shriek inside. demon. oh hell no. he was stuck in a church with a DEMON! and it had started out as such a good day. kalix didn't dare speak a word, just watched with scared eyes, fiddling a little more now. something to preoccupy his mind to keep from shrieking and running... or flying. hey! kalix hadn't thought of that! all he needed to do was fly away. but maybe the girl would follow him? as an owl? or maybe she would change to something much more scary to chase him? with that thought, flying away went out of the window. he could feel his skin prickling with energy at his fear. he didn't want to electricute the girl in a church. even if she was the devil's spawn.
kalix shrugged very slightly at the question put forward. what was he doing? sat in a cathedral, thinking innocently, to be disturbed by a demon that would most likely eat him up and spit him back out. though, the girl, who now had her hand outstretched and naming herself as kjara, didn't seem so harmful. in fact there didn't seem to be anything threatening about her. kalix's eyes looked from her to her hand and bit his lip. it wasn't that he didn't want to shake her hand, just he was a little afraid she might get a shock from his electrical hands.
"i'm kalix volie... and i maybe shouldn't shake your hand. i don't want to give you an electrical shock. it's nice to meet you kjara." kalix spoke evenly. he wasn't a shy person, but he was petrified of demons, and this girl was one of the species. his sisters had told him stories upon stories of the evil species. he didn't wish to be on their bad side at all.

Kjara snorted when he jumped. Why was he scared of her? No idea. And he screeched! Kjara winced at the sound, holding her ears. “Jeez, kid, chill! Don’t bust my eardrums!” as she rubbed her ears mumbling , he shook her head, trying to get the ringing out of her head as she sat beside him. “Might wanna be more prepared. I could have been someone else.” She watched him as he shrugged at her question and she turned away, her eyebrows raised in confusion. Okay, either this kid is weird, or, he’s weird. She thought to herself. Why was he acting like this? All…scared? It wasn’t like she was going to kill him or something. Of course, it would be kinda fun, she didn’t think she could really do something like that to someone who looked so completely innocent.
She pulled back her hand though; when he introduced himself by saying he didn’t wanna shake her hand because…he didn’t wanna shock her? How strangely odd. She pulled her hand away and nodded, crossing her hands across her chest and taking a deep breath. “’s a pleasure Kalix. Nice name.” she turned at looked to him. “You go to Winterthorne? I think I’ve seen you around there before, but it could just be my imagination, since I’m really good at letting it wander.” She sucked on her teeth, letting her eyes wander through the cathedral. Without another word she jumped up and leapt across the pew and then slowly walked into the isle. She turned her head left and right, wondering if there was anyone else there. Laughing quietly, she looked at what seemed to be a bird bath (to her), and put her hand in the water.
She waited for something to happen, for a burning sensation to come across her, anything! But nothing happened. “So cliché.” She whispered quietly before letting her body shapeshift into a small finch and hopped into the water, tweeting and piping as she played in the water. But she froze when she heard a voice say, ‘Is that little bird stuck in here again?’ he seemed to ask to himself, and Kjara’s heterochromatic eyes flashed towards the back of the church before she leapt out, landing on the ground as a girl, soaking wet. Cackling quietly she ran back to her seat beside Kalix, right as a man in a robe came in, eyeing the two of them with a look on his face that Kjara found humorous.
Biting her lip, she looked away as the priest’s eyes laid on her. She then turned to look at him, a soft smile on her lips. She only nodded her head as if saying, ‘what a lovely day’. And when he turned around and left, she busted out laughing, pulling her hair aside and squeezing it to get the water out.
“So Kalix. You can shock people?”
