The night was perfect for a party. In fact, there was probably something on down by the lake and everyone at winter thorn and their dog was probably there. Everyone but Xio. No, she was wasting her time, wandering around the courtyard like it was the most interesting place in the world because before around too many people made her nervous--the only reason she had even had friends was because of Evan now that felt like it was shot to hell. Even if she had gone, no one would have said a word to her anyway. Each day it felt like more and more of her friends were disappearing. It was only a matter of time before she killed too, probably. And the ones that were still there hadn’t spoken to her in quite a while. Ada was pissed at her--and that killed Xio--but she was too afraid to actually sit down with her and ask why. Every time they went to talk Evan came up and Xio just couldn’t deal with that. It was like suddenly Ada knew exactly how much that name hurt and was taking advantage of that. Obviously, she didn’t know. Otherwise, she would have ripped out Xio’s throat by now but it still hurt all the same. Something had obviously happened over the summer that Ada didn’t walk to talk about. Guess she wasn’t the only one had gone through a summer of hell.
She had spent all three and a half months wishing she was anywhere but home. After the second day it immediately got old. Her family hadn’t changed one bit when it came to material items. If anything had changed, they seemed to hate even more now for being such a freak. She was promptly told as she got off the plane not to touch anyway and when she got hold she was informed that they were going for a cocktail party and if she needed to call them, she had their cells. Her cruel parents had even forced her little brother to go. And he was the only other sane person in the family. If you could even call Xio sane. Did that girl even exist anymore? So many days away from her real home--wither Thorne made her want to throw up when she slept in the too expensive sheets her mother insisted she put on her bed. Her walls had been painted over a sickly pink color while she was away and even if she had wanted to, she had deleted Evan’s cell phone number and did not have anyway of contacting him to let him know how stupid she was for letting him go. Was she stupid for that? He broke her heart into too many pieces to possibly think straight. Yes, her heart was connected to her brain.
Now she was back and guess what? Evan wasn’t. Was she that bad that he couldn’t even stay at the same school? He’d hurt her worse, so why was he the one gone? The thought frightened her. She automatically told herself it was because he was somewhere else, having fun. She couldn’t possibly stand to know that Ada was so angry because her brother had gone missing, too. News like that would make Xio want to kill herself.
“And we all go down, one by one,” Xio muttered softly to herself, turning a corner around the castle and coming face to face with an unfamiliar face. She nearly yelped but was able to somehow move out of the way without falling on her ass. That was definitely something new, since she was known for being so clumsy. “I’m sorry,” She mumbled. He probably couldn’t see her, but she could see clear as day. He had dropped something The sweet smell rose from the ground and wrapped around them.

When you were bored and too tired to go party, the perfect place for you was the courtyard. Why? Because Amore said so. OK, so he wouldn't tell you what to do; but you should really consider it. Why was the party-holic not off getting wasted and trying to get into someones bed? Because he had an extremely hard time at school today, thanks to his hangover from yesterday, and was even more tired then before. But taking a nap was out of the question, because he had to go shopping at get his new shoes; which he wore today. So instead of going to a party and not being able to be his normal self without yawning, he decided to just hang around the school. Plus; he hadn't gotten to make a lot of new friends. Sure he had plenty of friends, but no one new. Besides Kjara, but she was no longer a new friend. She was still cool as hell though. Taking a drag from the joint he held in his hand, Amore continued to walk with a smile across his face. It was such a beautiful night out tonight, that he was actually kind of glad that he wasn't in someones house. He was glad to finally be able to get out and in tune with nature. With his power, he should do it more often.
Amore would have been lost if he wasn't used to putting himself in mazes all the time. It was more fun then it looked when you were in mouse form. Especially when you put cheese on the other end before and smoking a joint. Then you get the munchies like woah and forget your way around the maze. Of course it was never fun when you got lost and had to transform back into a human; thus breaking your maze. But oh well. It wasn't like Amore couldn't buy a new one, right? Amore was more worried about wasting money. Just because he had it, thanks to his adopted parents, didn't mean he was one of those kids that like to go waste it. He wasn't a snob. Snobs were possible they only people Amore never seemed to get along with; but not from his lack of trying. He always tried to get along with someone, no matter what their appearance. Oh wow we are getting off topic. Amore knew where he was, but didn't know where he was going. Mainly thanks to the little friend in his hand that he kept taking drags off of, and because he wasn't paying attention to where his feet wanted to go.
Cutting around the corner, his green (that was the color he chose today) eyes directed straight a head; he jumped backward as another face appeared. The joint that was in his hand hit the ground as he lifted a hand to his mouth, mainly to try to stop himself from screaming. Amore was easily scared, if you couldn't tell. Amore blinked a few times, looking the girl up and down, before assuming it was OK to feel safe again. People didn't scare him unless they seemed extremely violent. She apologized, making Amore a bit confused. Now, if she would have accidentally punched him in the stomach or something like that, then he'd understand for the apology; but she hadn't done anything wrong. Instead of pointing that out, he just smiled and shrugged his shoulders. "No problem," Amore said, leaning over and picking up the joint. After making sure it wasn't messed up, he continued. "no damage done." Amore took a drag from the rolled goodness, held it in for a moment, then released it. Making the air near his face a little smoky till it cleared. "It was just as much my fault. I should have been paying attention to where I was going." Amore said.
"I'm Amore," he introduced himself. His lips curled up in a smirk; but it wasn't a creepy one or a flirtatious one. It was clear to tell by the look in his eyes it was a simple smile. Nothing more then that. Not that the girl wasn't attractive. Amore just didn't want to scare her off.

Things were so much harder for her now that she didn’t have her best friend to lean on or Evan to tell her it would be alright. She never realized how much she depended on that boy and she was the adult in the relationship. She had gotten so used to his unavoidable charm, to his charisma, to his confidence. He was everything she would never be, no matter how hard she tried. That had always been okay with her, when they have been together. He was the outgoing one and she was the shy one. They balanced each other out. Now she feel completely off kilter. She really needed to make new friends. This how loneliness thing got old once you tasted friendship. She wouldn’t--she couldn’t let Evan’s absence transform her back into the girl no one liked because she wouldn’t open her mouth. She had come too far from the person she first was when she came to Winterthorne, The changes she had gone through certainly came out the scale. You’d barely recognize that Xio; the old one. Maybe reverting back to her old wasn’t such a bad idea. When she thought about it, she wouldn’t mind sitting in a dark room all day, writing things in her journal, staring out the window; drawing shapes with her blood.
On second thought, she was enough of a freak without going back to old habits. Xio sighed into the cold night air and stuffed her hands into her jean pockets. Things never seemed to be simple with her. They probably were, she just had such a habit of making every little thing overly complicated. Like now, for instance. She kept wanting to text Ada and maybe have that talk she kept avoiding. But no matter how much her fingers twitched, she couldn’t bring herself to pull out her little sidekick and press the buttons. Sooner or later she knew she was going to have to hear her friend out but really, later sounded so much better. She flashback to that day in the tower when she had found Ada. The funny thing was, it was the exact same place where she had met Evan. Everything was so connected but it still didn’t make sense.
In the darkness, her brown eyes flashed with surprise. She took a step back, her eyes falling on her almost victim of clumsyness. He was cute. Superficial to be the first thing, she noticed, but it was true. Her cheecks immediately flushed a shade of pink and he dropped her gaze. She had half expected him to tell her to move or watch where she was going. Her eyes followed him to the ground where he picked up the little roll of green. If that was what she thought it was, then no wonder he jumped so high. Didn’t weed make you paranoid or something? She stared at it for a second before bring her eyes back to his. He was just standing there. Smoking a joint. Like it was nothing. It was nothing. To him anyway. To someone like Xio, who still had the innocence of a child with some subjects, it was a little surprising. She didn’t know whether to walk away because for all she knew, he was bad or stay because he was throwing the most interesting vibe. “Xio,” She replied softly, smiling very shyly. “Nice to meet you.”
He had a cute name! Aww. She looked around for a second then back to him. “How come you’re not a the lake? I think the whole school is there.”

It was nearly impossible to worry about anything when you were high. I mean, you were a little paranoid sometimes, but for the most part you were mellow. Happy. That was, with pot. When he was on cocaine; oh lord. He didn't even remember any experiences from that. Amore was almost sure he never wanted too either. He wondered if he had hurt anyone while on that stuff, it almost made him worry, but then we go back to the whole being high on pot kind of takes the worry from everything. So the most Amore could feel in regret right now was a slight guilty feeling that he was doing the harder drug. It wasn't like he was doing it just for fun. It had become an addiction. If Amore could just quit it, he would. It would save him some money. But no, he couldn't so he would continue taking the consequences that came with doing the drug, until he could get the will power to actually quit it. So far no one caught on that he was doing it; not even his very best friend, so he was safe for now. Maybe he would make it out of this school without anyone knowing about it. That would be the best thing ever. Maybe he'd be able to quit before the school year was over.
Amore was glad he wasn't the only person that was just kind of standing there at first. It probably wasn't a normal thing to almost walk into someone while on a nighttime stroll. Especially with the murders going on recently. Amore couldn't help but fear he was going to be next, or worse, someone he cared about. But he wasn't going to focus on that now. Because, well, like I've said before, he couldn't really focus on worrying about anything. She seemed a bit surprised at something, but Amore just assumed it was because he had almost walked over her on his way to do nothing. He was glad that someone else was around. Though he was liking be alone, he wasn't one to stay alone for a long amount of town. He actually preferred to be around people; new or old, it didn't matter. Just as long as they weren't the scary and mean kind of people. Those kind of people Amore tried his hardest not to be around. They only lead to horrible things. When she introduced herself, he smiled. "Pleasure is all mine, Xio." He tried the name out. It was a nice name. He liked it. "Very nice name, by the way." It was easy to say.
She seemed shy. Amore didn't mind shy people, they were fun to be around. They tended to get over their introverted ways once you talked to them a little bit. But he was assuming to many things about this girl. He hated being judge mental, so he refused to assume anything else about her. "Didn't really feel like partying tonight," Amore admitted. It was amazing, being he almost always partied. The girl wouldn't know that, because Xio didn't know him. Or, at least Amore didn't think she knew him. Not unless he had met her while he was drunk or high. That was possible. It wouldn't be the first time. "How about you?" he asked. If everyone was at the lake, then shouldn't she be there? Unless she just didn't feel like going, also. Besides, Amore wasn't one to really go swimming a lot. His hair would get wet, then go curly and he hated his curly hair. Only very few people had ever seen him like that. He wasn't even sure if people knew he had naturally wavy hair. Not that it mattered. "It is a pretty night out, isn't it?" Amore didn't even realize he was talking till he was done. He had pretty much lost all control over his mouth.

“Err…thanks,” Xio tried not to stare at him because he was being so much nicer than everyone had been in a long time. Lately it felt like everyone she knew had such disdain for her. It probably wasn’t true, but hey, it didn’t stop the feeling. Something about this boy reminded her a lot of her friend Andrew. Not too sure what it was; they didn’t even look that much alike, but still, seeing his face made her recall’s Andrew’s. Oh, he she missed that boy. She hadn’t seen him since school had started. Another person to add to the list. She really hoped he had just found a better school. Amore. He had such a pretty name. She wanted to compliment him back but telling him that she liked his name felt like she was only returning the compliment to be nice. She would have to tell him later. It was stupid, but yes, little things like that bothered her. “I don’t even see the relation of it to me. Its Chinese, I’m part Hispanic.” Somewhere through the stupidity of conceiving her, her parents had also decided to give her a name from a completely different heritage. They also decided not to love her, but that was beside’s the point. They did a lot of stupid crap that she dad to remind herself daily not to think about or else thoughts would just swallow her whole and bring her down. She had knack for making things like that happen.
Unlike Xio, Amore didn’t like a very shy person. Obviously, she didn’t know him but already he had been a lot more outgoing in the two minute conversation they had started--if it counted as a conversation. She nodded at the boy and smiled. She never felt like partying anymore. It was just one of those things she could bring herself to do with that certain person around. She liked that Amore seemed pretty chill. People around Winterthorne had grown accustomed t suspecting anyone out this late. It was more than likely thanks to the half burnt joint in his hand but it didn’t bother her like she figured it would. Cigarette smoke annoyed the fuck out of her, but this was okay. “I didn’t feel like it either,” she lied. Yeah, yeah, we know. She didn’t party at all, but this way at least she didn’t look like a social outcast. He probably didn’t care but when she got a chance to make friends, she tried not to lose them. Beside’s even if she had gone to the lake party, she didn’t know how to swim. How embarrassing would it have been to get pushed into the lake and nearly drown? It would happen. Shit like that always occurred to her. “Yeah,” Xio looked up the sky, studying the patterns of the skies. He was right, it was. “It is,” She said thoughtfully, smiling up at the orange yellow glow of the full moon. “The view is even better from the roof.”

Amore gave a small shrug, the smile he hadn't lost since he bumped into Xio was still on his face; when she thanked him for complimenting her name. "You're welcome." Amore said, throwing in a slightly wider smile and tilting his head up a bit. Almost as if he was proud to say he was welcome. It was mainly the pot and his hyper self coming together. Taking another deep drag in of the joint, he let the smoke chat to his lungs a little more before exhaling. It was a rather wonderful feeling, the smoke traveling down your throat and hanging out inside you for a little while, after your first cigarette/cigar/etc. At the comment about her name not being any relation to her, Amore scrunched his nose up in thought. Bringing the hand with the joint to rest on his hip, his hip bent slightly; his other arm wrapped behind him, the hand holding onto the arm; pretty much he looked like a girl. This was how he stood when he was rather high. "What's it mean? That could be why. I mean, your right, Chinese and Hispanic are completely different cultures; but I'm not Italian, and Amore is Italian, though I think it goes with me a lot. Being I like love a lot." The rambling had started. Amore wasn't paying attention to that though, again, he was high. "If Xio means adorable or cute, then it has you written all over it." Amore flirted, dropping the stance and taking another drag from the illegal substance that had found home in his hand.
It had gotten quiet again, and not that Amore really minded the quiet, he didn't want the conversation to die. If it died; then he would have to go find someone else to talk too, and he really didn't want to walk anywhere right now. In fact, he was tired of standing up. But he wasn't going to go find a bench yet, so he continued standing. Amore's brain was completely blank, not thinking about anything or worrying about anything. If a thought were to cross his mind, it didn't last that long. Maybe just long enough for him to get distracted my something else, like a star that was smaller then the rest, or the fact that it was a full moon. His thoughts were never really ever that important, especially while on the five leafed friend of his. "That's cool. If I went, I'd probably get my hair all fucked up. Not that I mind getting dirty or anything like that, but I don't want my hair to go all poof because it got wet. Though it would probably be the best place to go to meet people." Amore rambled on. He looked from the sky over to Xio, a smile still on his face. "Though I met you, and that's totally cool enough. In a large group there is more of a chance for someone scary." Amore said, laughing a little even though he was being dead serious.
After the comment about the sky being pretty, Amore's eyes were back on the sky. It was pretty. He had just said that, so yeah. But she agreed, and that added to his happiness for reasons I don't know. If you're that curious, ask him; I'm just the middle man. Anyways. "We could head to the roof, but I'd probably fall off the edge. I am so high. And I don't want to die, so yeah, I probably shouldn't. But if you want too, you can. Not that I want you to go or anything; but I don't want to annoy you or anything so if you were on your way there and I stopped you; then you can. God, I sound like I'm trying to push you away. I'm not, I swear, you seem cool enough." Amore said, laughing a little at the fact he was talking over himself, even though he really wasn't worried. It was bad when you knew you were high. That was when you knew you were past the edge of no return. Taking another drag, he had just realized he was being rude. He hadn't offered her any yet! "Do you want some?" Amore asked, holding the joint out.

Xio’s smiled instantly, in subconscious response to Amore’s expression. It was almost contagious in a way. He hadn’t stopped smiling since they’d almost collided and this was a little…not surprising, but unusual? It was like there was some good mood he was harboring and it intrigued her. It made her want to know what it was that made him so content. She wanted that feeling, too. She wanted to smile like that; carefree and chill. Just enjoying whatever happened. She felt like there was a tiny secret she had yet to discover when the answer was right in front of her. This thought made her smile widely, completely unaware that she was doing so simply because Amore was standing right in front of her. All signs seemed to point with an invisible hand. ‘New Friend!” the invisible lips cried with a grin. There was something fun about getting to know people that were nothing like her. She was sure she and Amore had something in common, but judging from the past five minutes (And she was trying her best not to judge) he was probably a little more rambunctious than she was. But then, who wasn’t? Anyone with a pulse was like ten levels more outgoing then she was. “You know…I’m not sure,” Xio blinked. “My grandmother told me once it meant ‘ready for battle’ or something. But then my older told me it mean ‘strange’. I really hope she was just messing with me. She probably was because she’s a bitch and she likes to--” Xio clamped her mouth shut. She really needed to stop rambling. “But yeah…Y-You’re name is adorable. Especially since its Italian. ” How many guys did you know with the name Amore? That was so cute! She looked up to meet Amore’s eyes in half surprise. She wasn’t sure if he was using a pick up line or being sincere. His expression sided with the latter and of course, her cheeks burned. “Do you say that all the girls you meet?” Xio asked with a small laugh.
Silence wasn’t uncomfortable with Xio. She was so used to it that when it came in conversations, it wasn’t awkward anymore--at least not for her. It was probably quite weird for other people who were accustomed to having full, upbeat conversations. She had never been much of a conversationalist anyway. Most people found this out very quickly. She nodded when he spoke. Yeah, the lake probably would be a good place to make friends. But that would require speaking and Xio still had trouble going up to people. “I don’t know how to swim so…” She rolled her eyes. “I probably would have fallen into the lake or something. Its better if I stay far, far away from stuff like that.” Besides, who didn’t want to wander the courtyard at night, pretending it was the much cooler thing to do? This guy was really nice. They’d only met ten minutes ago yet Xio kept smiling at every word he said. “Aha. Thanks.“ Her? Cool? Riiight. “Yeahaha. Like Ezra, or somebody,” she muttered. God, that boy scared her so much. And he knew it. In fact, he did it on purpose. Scary didn’t even begin to describe him.
It probably wasn’t a good idea if Amore fell off the roof. She shook her head. “Its okay.” For once, she wasn’t the only person rambling and instead of finding it annoying, she thought it was pretty damn cute. It made her feel less weird. “I may just sit here on the ground…uhm…you can stay if you like.” She didn’t wan to make him stay if he didn’t want to but she did secretly want him to. Something about his was calming. Like he was someone who would be so easy to talk to. “I’m pretty sure you can’t fall off the ground.” Yeah, she could probably make it happen knowing her clumsiness. “No, no.” she shook head. “You weren’t annoying me at all. I was just walking and stuff. Nothing important. I mean, you can if you want to…but yeah…just…Sorry, I ramble, roo. And I‘m pretty sure no one has ever called me cool. Ever.” She wasn’t kidding. At all. To keep herself from saying anything stupid, she plopped down on the green grass and looked up at him shyly. Her eyes went inevitable wide when held out his joint and offered some. “Uh…well, I dunno…I’ve never done that--I mean--I d-don’t think its ba--bad or anything, I jus never tried and I heard it was…” She didn’t even bother finished that stupid sentence. It hadn’t made sense anyway.
